Single men banned from entering a zoo in Japan (5 photos)
Sounds crazy? But it's true, the Healing Pavilion Zoo in Japan has banned single men. Why do you think that is? The answer is just as crazy.
Let me just infringe on someone for no reason
Flirting is worse than war for a Japanese
The zoo director said that single men start flirting with women, thereby causing them discomfort when they need to refuse an acquaintance. After all, in this case, they feel forced to smile and respond politely.
And that female visitors often complained that people were trying to get to know them.
Where else would you ban men from going?
Especially since the Healing Pavilion is an interactive zoo where visitors can feed and hug animals, quite common ones - pigs, cats, dogs and sheep.
And so in January, a sign appeared at the entrance and on the zoo's website: "From now on, male visitors are prohibited from entering the zoo alone."
Most of the visitors were families with children or couples. And it makes sense that men who came alone would try to start a conversation and spend time in zoos communicating with someone. But for the Japanese, this is too shocking, especially for Japanese women, who seemed easier to talk to.
There is also a pet room at the zoo, where you can bring your dog to interact with other dogs
The director of the zoo commented (yes, it is a woman) that the Healing Pavilion is intended for emotional healing, and not for dating or finding partners, she defended her policy of the establishment with this action.
"I don't want to be arrogant towards men in any way," the director said. Although, to me, that's exactly what she did.
Is that fair to men?
Japan has very clean and cute petting zoos, and the smell is quickly removed
Many people on the Internet were outraged by this treatment of men.
"This is blatant gender discrimination. Many people, like me, just want to enjoy the company of animals alone and don't want to hurt anyone."
The director even decided to engage in a debate with users:
"If I could, I would only ban those who behave badly. But as a woman running a zoo alone, I am afraid of potential retaliation, which leaves me no choice but to impose this rule on everyone."
It is unclear whether anyone actually filed a complaint with the police for harassment, or just whined for a long time.
Users suggested that the director simply hire taller and stronger men, so that their appearance alone would discourage visitors from being too naughty.
Here, for example, is a carriage FOR WOMEN ONLY. But it doesn't say - if you are a single man, then leave!
In my opinion, this is absolutely immoral. From a legal point of view, you can create a "women's club for animal lovers" and let only women go there. You can write who can go to the club, but you can't write WHO CANNOT, especially humiliating a person simply because he is a single man.
But it is easier for the Japanese to infringe on someone than not to mumble and just say "man, I am not looking for acquaintances." They have completely forgotten how to communicate.
