Chinese Chery Tiggo 9 Crossover Crashed in Euro NCAP Crash Test (3 photos + 1 video)
The European organization Euro NCAP has begun a series of crash tests. It includes testing a number of new car models, including the flagship Chinese crossover Chery Tiggo 9. Sales of this model began in Russia shortly before the New Year, and it immediately attracted the attention of experts.
During a side collision at a speed of 60 km/h, the power structure of the Tiggo 9 body, 85% made of high-strength steel, withstood all loads. Key safety elements retained their integrity, providing the necessary space for the survival of passengers.
The 10-airbag system deserves special attention, including the central airbag between the front seats, which was installed for the first time on Chery cars. During the test, all inflatable elements deployed within the first milliseconds after the impact, creating effective protection against injuries. The curtain airbags, stretched along the side windows, provided additional protection against damage during a collision.
The car also demonstrated the reliability of the safety systems after the impact: the doors remained operational, which is critical for the evacuation of passengers, and the fuel system remained sealed. The automatic emergency call system instantly transmitted information about the incident to emergency services.
This is not the first crash test of the Chery Tiggo 9. In a frontal collision of two cars, the cars also received high safety ratings. The expensive dummies did not transmit any alarm signals. All safety systems also worked in the normal mode and after the collision the doors of both cars opened without the use of special equipment.
Chery Tiggo 9 has dimensions of 4810 x 1925 x 1741 mm and is positioned as a family car that combines advanced safety technologies and a high level of comfort. Under the hood is a 2-liter gasoline engine with a capacity of 245 hp and 375 Nm of torque.
