A Coffin on Wheels. Tesla Model 3 Turned into a Hearse (11 photos)
A Tesla Model 3 electric car converted into a hearse has been put up for sale in the Netherlands. Derks Funeral Mobility, the company that built it, has priced the funeral car at 118,950 euros (about 125 thousand dollars), while the donor model costs in the country from 40,990 euros, that is, almost three times less.
They took as a basis a restyled sedan that rolled off the assembly line in November 2023 and has since traveled only 55 kilometers. The ad does not specify which modification the specialists used. At the same time, even the top-end twin-engine Model 3 is priced in the Netherlands at 50,990 euros ($53,500).
The original electric car has had its rear end completely redesigned, with a roof rising towards the rear, large windows and a lift-up rear door. The side rear doors have been formally retained, but now they hide storage compartments. The original taillights have been reintegrated into the modified body.
In the cabin, the front end is separated from the coffin compartment by a glass partition. Wood is used in the trim, and Rolls-Royce-style lighting has been added to the ceiling.
