Stowaway crawls to plane in Serbia
At Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, a woman tried to board a plane without a ticket and passport.
The woman crawled past security at Belgrade Airport and tried to fly to Malta.
The incident took place on January 8 at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport. CCTV footage shows the woman dropping to her stomach and crawling under the barriers. She managed to get past the glass doors of the automated passport control and crawl under numerous security barriers. In this way, she reached the boarding gate for the Wizz Air flight to Malta.
It was only when she boarded the plane and failed to show the flight attendants her boarding pass that she was caught. The police said the Serbian citizen, who arrived on a flight from France, where she was deported for reasons that are currently unknown, has already been detained and charged with illegal entry.
The Civil Aviation Authority is currently investigating the incident.
“Belgrade Airport is cooperating with the relevant authorities on this matter, and while the investigation is ongoing, we cannot provide any further details,” a spokesperson for the airport said.
