Well, the Americans did not remain silent, they explained why their country has problems with education, or rather, with the perception of educational material by children. 
In fact, they conducted a fairly large-scale study and found out that fluorine is to blame for everything... Yes, fluorine, contained in drinking water.
In short, if you believe the report, which talks about 74 studies on how this same fluoride affects the development of the child's brain, it turns out that for every small increase in the fluoride content in the urine of children, there was a decrease in IQ by 1.63 points.
If you drink tap water from childhood, then school science will be oh so difficult. And if you consider that fluoride has been added to the US water supply for decades to strengthen teeth, then now young Americans should not be blamed for the inability to perceive the school curriculum.
According to CDC estimates, fluoridation allows you to save $ 6.5 billion annually on dental treatment and reduces the incidence of caries by 25 percent. 
There, researchers are still worried that a 5-point decrease in the population's IQ doubles the number of mentally retarded people. Doctors warn pregnant and nursing mothers not to use such water so as not to damage the child's brain.
In the meantime, New Jersey has eliminated the requirement for teachers to take a basic literacy test (reading, writing, and math). According to authorities, this will help simplify the employment process and reduce the staffing shortage in schools. The changes in the rules came into effect on January 1.
