Small but very beautiful spiders live in Australia, their scientific name is Maratus volans. Initially, the spiders were called Salticus volans, which means "flying" in Latin.



These beautiful spiders are very tiny, usually no larger than 4-5 mm. They are famous for their brightly colored abdomens - a feature inherent only to males. They use colors and patterns to attract the attention of potential females during their unique mating dances, during which they raise their legs and abdomen. If they are lucky, after mating, the male manages to hide before the female eats him.
