According to the commander of the canine regiment, Colonel Anne O'Flynn, the need for four-legged dogs in the British army has changed over the past 15-20 years. Previously, dogs were used as guards and searchers, but now the range of tasks has significantly expanded.

"The need for working dogs has varied greatly over the last 15 or 20 years. Since now, in Afghanistan and Iraq, the numbers have increased significantly due to the demand for more support for working dogs," the military says.

As part of the increased functionality of the tasks, the British Army will dress the four-legged ones in high-tech vests and goggles, the media writes. The dogs' clothing also includes earmuffs and rubber-soled boots to protect their paws from temperature changes, glass and fragments.



The new equipment for the four-legged ones will even allow the military to parachute out of planes. Active testing of new equipment for the army's canine services has already been completed, and the first units will receive everything they need in the near future.
