The man tried to convince potential buyers by dressing up in women's clothing and putting on wigs. However, the unusual behavior of the "seller" aroused the suspicions of the real estate agent.
Police in Poznan (Poland) detained a 68-year-old man who tried to pull off a daring scam involving the sale of someone else's apartment. Using a fake police ID and dressing up as a woman, he tried to sell real estate that did not belong to him.
The fraudster first rented an apartment, posing as a police officer. A month later, he posted an advert for the sale of a residential property on a popular Polish platform. To convince potential buyers, the man tried to look like the real owner of the property, wearing women's clothing and wigs.
The unusual behavior of the "seller" aroused the suspicions of the real estate agent. After talking to neighbors, the agent found out that the man was not the owner of the property and contacted the real owner.
The offender was detained in Zielona Góra, where he was hiding. During a search of his apartment, the police found fake documents, photographs, a police officer's ID, as well as women's clothing, wigs, mobile phones and cash.
The publication notes that the 68-year-old man has been arrested. He faces up to 15 years in prison for fraud and document forgery.
