Christmas tree fails to impress residents of England (2 photos + 1 video)
The country's main Christmas tree has been erected in London. Judging by the crowd's reaction, the people of England are not very impressed.
"Expectation/Reality" from the UK
Since 1947, the city of Oslo has annually given the British a Christmas tree as a thank you for Britain's help during World War II. The tree is being erected in Trafalgar Square in London.
This video shows this year's main Christmas tree in London. It was traditionally brought from Norway. The Londoners are clearly not very impressed: the joyful hum quickly dies down. Either Norway, where there are plenty of beautiful Christmas trees, is sending a signal to London, or the authorities are hinting to the English that the year was difficult, and the next one will be even worse
Journalist Andrew Neil:
"On the left is the tree at Rockefeller Center. On the right is the tree in Trafalgar Square. When it comes to Christmas trees, London needs to raise the bar."
