Canadian adopted a dog named Leon from a shelter, but after a few months he had to give the animal back (3 photos + 1 video)

Leon's owners had been looking for him for almost two years - they recognized the dog thanks to a post on social media. The animal was finally returned to its owners recently. However, the man who took Leon from the shelter had already become attached to the pet, so now he visits him regularly.





Lavoie was volunteering at a Canadian shelter - that's where he met Leon. The man admitted in an interview with People that he felt an "emotional connection" with the animal and wanted to take him for himself.

Because of certain shelter rules, the man was not able to do this right away, but eventually his dream came true. Only then Lavoie did not know that Leon's owners had been looking for him for a year and a half.



The dog's owners saw a photo of their pet on Lavoie's social media page, they recognized the animal and contacted the man. "I couldn't believe [what was happening]. They were crying - they couldn't believe that their dog had finally been found," Lavoie recalls.

The Canadian admits that it was very difficult to give the dog back to his previous owners, but he knew it was the right decision. Over the past year and a half, Leon changed several owners before ending up in the shelter. And finally reunited with his family.

For the four months that Leon lived with Lavoie, the man took care of him, and, of course, he became attached to the animal. Fortunately, the Canadian still keeps in touch with Leon's owners and comes to visit them from time to time to visit Leon. The dog, according to Lavoie, is very happy to be back with his family - this is confirmed by numerous photos that the owners share with their new friend.



Lavoie admits that this experience has not changed his views on pet adoption. He still encourages others to adopt pets from shelters. "Every dog ​​deserves a loving home. Sometimes it's not about you, it's about what's best for the dog. You have to open your heart and make the right decision for them [the animals].”
