In Honduras, fishermen took revenge on a shark that maimed a local resident (6 photos + 1 video)

On October 14, farmer Roberto Bu, along with a friend and his family, went to inspect the harvest, and on the way decided to stop at the beach in Telu, a resort town in Atlantis, Honduras. The group was swimming near the pier when Bu was attacked by the predator.





"I thought he was joking, we were swimming close to the shore. A wave came and he started screaming: "Help, help," said witness Lisette Arita.

"Then he started hitting her hard, and then the shark surfaced. It was very big. We saw its black fin, - the girl shared. - Roberto started to fight it. We rushed to the shore, my father was shouting: "Get out, get out!"



The man managed to escape, he was urgently taken to the hospital, where he underwent surgery due to injuries to his back and the front of his right thigh.

"Currently, he is out of danger. The patient lost a lot of blood, he was given a transfusion. He is in the intensive care unit," said doctor Zulmi Lopez, adding that this was the first time the hospital had provided assistance to a victim of a shark attack.





Boo will be transferred to the Mario Catarino Rivas Hospital in San Pedro Sula for reconstructive surgery on her right hip.



That same day, angry locals went out to sea to track down the predator. The shark was caught and pulled alongside the boat, and then beaten with a baton.



This is the second shark attack off the coast of Honduras since September 17. Fernando Mendoza, 33, was collecting shellfish on the beach in Puerto Castillo when the shark attacked him and bit him on the left leg. He was hospitalized.



Despite the incidents, marine biologist Gabriella Ochoa told El Heraldo that sharks do not hunt humans as a food source.

"Sharks do not eat humans, we are not part of their diet," Ochoa said. "They eat fish, shellfish and turtles."
