Almost concreted over: passersby rescued a cat completely covered in cement (4 photos)
The incident occurred in the Seeheldenburt area of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. On the way to work, locals saw a puny cat. Upon closer inspection, they realized that the cat was completely covered in liquid cement.
People immediately called an ambulance for animals. The cat was taken to a veterinary hospital. There, all the cement was washed off and a tag was found on the animal's neck. It turned out that the cat was a domestic cat, nicknamed Pelle, and his owners lived nearby.
"It took a while, but luckily we were able to wash off all the cement," Lieselot Oskam, an employee of the animal ambulance service, told the local news.
There were renovations going on in the area where the victim lives, which is why the cat got into such a mess. Veterinarians noted that cats often step into liquid cement with their paws, but they don't see cases like Pelle's very often.
The ambulance service posted a photo of the cement-covered cat on Instagram and noted that thanks to the timely actions of the veterinarians, the patient only got eye ointment. The cat was lucky that he was found before the cement had time to harden.
According to doctors, the cat returned home without serious consequences for his health.
