Lotus presented its three-seater supercar Theory 1 (11 photos)
Lotus has unveiled the Theory 1 concept supercar. It can be called the ideological successor to the Esprit model. The carbon fiber electric supercar with 1,000 hp is equipped with a three-seater cockpit. Specially developed tires have added 10% to the car's range.
The Theory 1 is equipped with two electric motors that provide all-wheel drive. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 320 km/h. Thanks to the all-carbon body, the curb weight is 1,600 kilograms.
The battery is small by modern standards, only 70 kilowatts. Therefore, the passport power reserve of 402 kilometers is achievable only with very rational driving. About 10% of this is due to special Pirelli P Zero Elect tires with reduced rolling resistance.
Lifting doors provide access to the three-seater cockpit. Similar to McLaren models, the driver sits front and center. Seats for two passengers are located on the sides and slightly behind. The interior trim is extremely minimalist.
Lotus Theory 1 received an innovative "robotic system with a textile coating." Built into the steering wheel and seat, it prompts the driver to certain actions using small inflatable capsules. The steering in the car is implemented "by wire," without a physical connection to the wheels.
The manufacturer does not specify when and in what form the car may go into production.
