A new Shrek movie is currently being filmed and will be released in a few years. We're all used to the image of the funny orc from the cartoon, but did you know that the cartoon, based on the 1990 William Steig fairy tale, was originally conceived as a darker fairy tale. This is reflected in these early examples of concept art.
