In Ireland, a huge shark swam to the shore, but did not scare away vacationers (4 photos + 1 video)
A giant shark (Cetorhinus maximus) has been spotted just metres from shore in Ireland's Keam Bay, in a sight that has reminded many of a scene from Steven Spielberg's Jaws.
The footage, taken off Achill Island, County Mayo, shows a massive fin slicing through the water, alarmingly close to a group of young men. As the shark passes, cries of "Oh my God" can be heard. Then a smaller dorsal fin appears.
Despite the fact that pelagic sharks feed on plankton and do not pose a threat to humans, their size can still be frightening. This type of fish is the second largest after the whale shark. On average, their length reaches 9 m.
The viral video has collected hundreds of thousands of views.
"Why are there children in the water? Or should I ask, why are there people the size of snacks in the water?" a viewer asked.
Another wrote: "This is a dangerous situation regardless of whether the shark seems harmless. Better to stay out of the water."
Many noted that swimmers felt safe.

In May 2021, rumors emerged that the prehistoric megalodon was still alive. This happened after the monstrous shark was spotted near a cruise ship.
