New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu Helps Contestant in Lobster Roll Eating Contest

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu helped a choking contestant in a lobster roll eating contest, WMUR reports. Christian Moreno was one of six contestants in a contest where they had to eat as many rolls as possible in ten minutes. These rolls are hot dog buns stuffed with lobster and celery and smeared with mayonnaise. Before the contest, Moreno said he planned to set a record of 20 rolls. However, he only managed to eat two rolls before he began to choke.

The eater began punching his chest to clear his throat, and Sununu, who was standing nearby, realized he needed help. The governor used the Heimlich maneuver and saved the choking Moreno.

Sununu later told reporters that it was not difficult for him to quickly figure out what he needed to do. The only thing that could distract him was noise.

After coming to his senses, the rescued man ate nine more rolls, but was no longer able to win. After the competition, it turned out that Moreno, without his glasses, did not recognize his savior. He realized who it was only after he was told what had happened. He said that he was grateful to the governor for his help and understood that everything could have ended worse. Nevertheless, Moreno said that he would participate in the competition next year.
