Norwegian princess married an American shaman (13 photos + 1 video)
Last Saturday, the eldest daughter of the King of Norway, Märtha Louise, married African-American shaman Durek Verrett. The ceremony took place in the picturesque town of Geiranger, and among the 350 guests were bloggers, reality show heroes and TV stars.
Pre-wedding celebrations began on Thursday. Guests told the media that Norwegian and American artists performed at the celebration, as well as a gospel choir and a singer from Norway's indigenous people, the Sami.

"It was fantastic! It was Hollywood in Geiranger," said TV presenter Harald Rønneberg. "It was the gospel of love. We laughed, we applauded, we were deeply moved. Simply wonderful."
The bride completed her look with a tiara, which her grandfather, King Olav V, gave her for her 18th birthday
The couple sold the rights to the wedding photos to the British magazine Hello!, and the rights to the film to Netflix.

In 2022, Märtha Louise, fourth in line to the Norwegian throne, stepped down from representing the royal house of Glücksburg, but Harald V retained her title.
Martha Louise, 52, and Verrett, 49, have attracted media attention for their spiritual beliefs. The princess claims she can talk to angels, while her chosen one communicates with spirits and wears a medallion that wards off evil spells and cures illnesses.

The lovers have been together since 2019 and got engaged in 2022.
After the wedding, Verrett, a sixth-generation shaman, will not receive a title. The newlyweds have agreed not to use their connection to the royal house for commercial purposes.

Earlier this year, Märtha Louise, in collaboration with the company "Oslo Handverksdestilleri", released a batch of gin, the label of which read "We created this gin for the wedding of Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett in Geiranger in August 2024". King Harald had already forbidden his daughter to profit from her privileged status in 2019, and as a result, the label was changed.
Märtha Louise has three children from her previous marriage to writer and playwright Ari Behn. She divorced him in 2017 after 14 years of marriage.
