On the night of September 4, Nissan held two premieres at once, showing the public the seventh generation of the Patrol SUV and its twin for the US market, known as the Armada. The car replaced the model that had been produced without major changes since 2010.

In terms of dimensions, the new model turned out to be only 18 mm longer than the outgoing Patrol (5324 mm), but the increase in width is 86 mm (2116 mm). The wheelbase remained the same - 3076 mm, and the ground clearance is 244 mm. The car is built on a modernized frame platform and shares it not only with the Armada, but also with the more prestigious Infiniti QX80, presented back in March. Externally, the version from Nissan looks noticeably simpler. The car has more traditional lighting technology, and along with it, other adjacent body panels, its own form of glazing in the rear and regular door handles against the retractable ones in the QX80.

It is claimed that after the modifications, the SUV's frame has become significantly stiffer. In particular, the torsional parameter has increased by 25%. The suspension now has optional air springs paired with adaptive shock absorbers.

The Nissan Patrol is now powered by a 3.5-liter V6 turbo engine, developing 425 horsepower and 700 Nm. The engine is aggregated with a 9-speed automatic and an all-wheel drive system. In the US, the Armada will also be available with a rear-wheel drive version. In some countries, the new Nissan Patrol will be available not only with a 3.5 turbo engine, but also with a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 (316 hp and 386 Nm).

As a bonus for American customers, a special version of the Armada with the Pro-4X prefix in the name will be offered. It features bumpers that increase the angle of entry from 17.3 to 33 degrees, as well as additional protection, including the bottom, a locking rear differential and "toothy" tires.

The interior architecture of the Patrol and QX80 is similar, but the materials and some elements are different. For example, the Patrol is equipped with smaller diagonal displays (12.3 inches), while the same 14.3-inch ones as the Infiniti are available only for an extra charge, as is the projection onto the windshield. The Nissan audio system can have up to 12 speakers instead of 24 in the Infiniti. The Patrol also received its own central console with push-button control of the climate control system, a massive box and a washer for controlling off-road modes.

The Patrol and Armada are designed for seven or eight passengers. The third row of the model is three-seater, and the second can be equipped with either a sofa or a pair of separate chairs, depending on the configuration.

The seventh generation of the SUV is equipped with advanced ProPilot Assist auxiliary systems, which include advanced adaptive cruise control with lane keeping. The expensive versions are equipped with a 2.1 generation system, which allows you to take your hands off the steering wheel when driving on the highway.

The Nissan Patrol and Armada are scheduled to go on sale at the end of 2024. The main markets for the model are North America, the Middle East and Australia.
