A cape made of solar panels can add a charge of 50 km per day (4 photos + 1 video)
American company GoSun has introduced a new solution for charging electric cars — EV Solar Charger. This is a folding set of solar panels that cover most of the car's surface and simultaneously protect its interior from overheating on a hot day. 
The panels fold like an accordion and fit into a 12.7 cm thick box, which is installed on the roof of the electric car. A 200-watt solar battery is also built into the lid of the box itself, meaning that some energy can be obtained while driving. However, the main charging occurs in the parking lot, when additional panels are deployed from bow to stern. The coverage area increases sixfold — as does the power (up to 1.2 kilowatts).
EV Solar Charger is connected directly to the electric car's charging port via a 120-volt cable. When parked, the charging system can withstand wind gusts of up to 50 km/h when unfolded. You can drive with a 32-kilogram box on the roof at speeds of up to 160 km/h. According to GoSun engineers, their development will allow electric car owners to get 16-32 "free" kilometers per day, and in the most favorable conditions - up to 50 kilometers.
The start of deliveries of the EV Solar Charger is scheduled for 2025. Its full price will be about 3 thousand dollars, while American buyers can count on a 30-percent tax deduction under the federal government program. The company plans to patent the device in the United States and China: applications to the relevant departments of these countries have already been submitted and are currently under consideration.
