A desperate passenger jumped out of a plane through an emergency exit (2 photos + 1 video)
Audrey Varghese, who was on the same flight, said people were asking the daredevil to take her seat, but to no avail. 
A passenger who couldn't wait for the plane to stop at the parking lot opened the emergency door and jumped. The bizarre incident happened at around 10am on Thursday, August 22, just after Jetstar flight JQ507 landed from Sydney.
According to witnesses, as soon as the plane stopped, the passenger headed for the emergency exit and opened the door. The man then automatically deployed a rescue parachute at the rear of the wing, but ignored it and instead headed for one of the Airbus A320-200's engines to jump from there onto the runway. 
Audrey Varghese, who was on the same flight, said passengers asked the daredevil to sit down in his seat, but to no avail. He ignored all requests and warnings from the crew.
The Australian Federal Police, who were alerted to the incident by Jetstar staff, arrested the traveller, accusing him of violent behaviour and breach of safety protocols.
He was also assessed by paramedics and taken to a hospital where he remains under observation. Police are continuing their investigation.
Airport authorities in Melbourne praised the quick response of the ground crew, saying it helped keep other passengers and staff safe.
