Of course, all dog breeds are wonderful! However, some behave better than others. Forbes Advisor decided to look into this issue and conducted a survey among the owners of 25 popular dog breeds, according to the American Kennel Club rating, to find out their opinion on this matter. A total of 5 thousand people took part in the study.
During the survey, dog owners had to answer how well their pets behave in public places, whether they listen to commands with and without a leash, whether they beg for food, whether they ruin things. The dogs were given scores from 0 to 100: low scores for bad behavior, high scores for good behavior. Here are the results the experts got.
King Charles Spaniel — 5th place
Expert rating: 20.89 out of 100
It is considered one of the most harmful small dog breeds, which is difficult to train and educate. The King Charles Spaniel is among the worst for the following reasons, voiced by their owners:
constantly begs for food (46%) and whines for no reason (35%);
rarely or never obey commands when off-leash in public places (11%);
often swallows foreign objects (13%).
French Bulldog — 4th place
Expert rating: 17.32 out of 100
About a third of owners report behavioral problems with French Bulldogs. Here are their main complaints:
often tries to escape during a walk on the street (63%);
puts itself in danger because of its own behavior (23%).
Havanese — 3rd place
Expert rating: 12.04 out of 100
The Havanese is a rather noisy dog. However, it ended up in this top spot for more than just this reason. The owners who took part in the study noted the following shortcomings:
barks at strangers for no reason (59%);
often whines (38%);
spoils things (25%);
endangers their health because of their own behavior (32%).
Beagle — 2nd place
Expert rating: 1.34 out of 100
Beagles take an honorable second place. 40% of owners complain about the disobedience of this breed. And not without reason, because they:
constantly beg for food from the table (49%);
rarely or never follow commands when off-leash in public places (13%);
often try to run away from home (59%).
Siberian Husky — 1st place
Expert rating: 0 out of 100
The Siberian Husky topped the rating, because it seems that this breed of dog is basically incapable of following the owner's commands and obeying. The main shortcomings noted by the owners:
bad and even terrible behavior (9.5%);
jumps on people (46%);
spoils things (23%);
regularly tries to escape (60.5%).
By the way, many owners who said that their pets behave badly or terribly (25%) admitted that this probably happens because they have never tried to train them.
