A powerful explosion rocked a container ship in the port of Ningbo-Zhoushan in eastern China. According to local media, one of the containers on the ship of the Taiwanese company Yang Ming exploded, which was presumably carrying dangerous goods.
The published footage shows that before the massive explosion that blew the container into atoms, a fire broke out on the ship. However, nothing has been reported about the cause of its occurrence.
The explosion on board the YM Mobility vessel occurred at about 13:40 local time (08:40 Moscow time). It is reported that there were no people nearby at the time of the incident and no one was injured. According to preliminary data, glycerin detonated in the container.
"The Ningbo Marine Search and Rescue Center has launched an emergency response plan and sent patrol boats to the scene. Three fire tugs and coastal firefighting forces have also been deployed," local media write.
