People sometimes like to whine, saying that if our area had attractions - natural or man-made, then life would be brighter. But who cares about the most ordinary boring place, of which there are hundreds and thousands?

But the approach of these ordinary people is definitely worth taking note of. After all, they created a unique, albeit simple beauty, with their own hands. Almost on a swamp. And they also got real benefits from the project.

Wooden dinosaurs are nestled among local trees covered with colorful birdhouses.

There's a stretch of swamp in northwestern Vermont that's anything but ordinary. It's home to a bizarre forest of birdhouses filled with brightly colored swallow houses. The story of this magical place began almost 30 years ago and continues to this day.

Two neighbors, Jay and Hank, decided to fight mosquitoes in the swamp located along their property.

The men built 20 bird houses, hoping to attract swallows, who adore wetlands and love to eat mosquitoes.

Hank and Jay's wives suggested painting the birdhouses bright colors, and a tiny village was born.

Within the first year, all the birdhouses were occupied. Over the next two decades, more and more houses for swallows were built, painted, and added to the bird town.

Today, the swamp has about 800 charming birdhouses for birds that feed on harmful insects. There are fewer mosquitoes, and most of the birdhouses are occupied.

You can also meet dinosaurs in the swamp. These creatures are less practical, but just as fantastic. Wooden dinosaurs are also created by the owners and their assistants and placed on the territory for entertainment and ambience.

The view of Lake Champlain from the shores of Whites Beach is charming, but the view of the forest with birdhouses is as natural as the view and proves that if you want, anything is possible, then a lot.
