Audi will give up rings for new electric cars for China (1 photo)
For the first time in many years, Audi will abandon its own four-ring logo. The decision was made for the Chinese market, where Audi plans to launch a new exclusive line of electric cars. It will be developed together with the SAIC concern. The latest concept is promised to be presented in November.
Currently, the future electric cars are known under the general working name Purple. It is expected that a single platform for them will be borrowed from the IM Motors brand, which is part of the SAIC concern, and CATL will share batteries. In addition, the Chinese startup Momenta, which develops semi-autonomous control systems, will take part in the project.
By 2030, the Purple line should include up to nine completely new models. The developers said that, despite the lack of the Audi logo, the cars will fully correspond to the image of the German company and will receive "authentic DNA." The abandonment of the corporate symbols is associated with the nuances of positioning. At the same time, it is not yet known whether Audi plans to introduce a completely new sub-brand to the Chinese market or will only adjust the use of the logo.
Audi promises to tell more about the new line in November, when a concept car will be presented in China. It will give an idea of what the electric cars jointly developed by Audi and SAIC will be like. The latest battery-powered novelty for Europe was the Audi A6 family, which was deprived of sedans with traditional front-wheel drive and completely transferred to electric traction.
