A global failure of Windows OS brought down the computer systems of banks, airports, carriers, large supermarket chains, telecom operators and many other companies around the world.

The first reports of a malfunction in the operating system began to come from Australia, where chaos began in supermarkets and airports - self-service checkouts stopped working, and many flights had to be cancelled. Then the Blue Screen of Death began to spread throughout the world.

United Airlines and Delta Airlines (USA) and Turkish Airlines (Turkey) have suspended flights due to communication problems. Currently, there are 130 canceled flights and several hundred more flights that are delayed.

Media are reporting that problems with the Windows 10 operating system are due to a bug in an update from cybersecurity company CrowdStrike. This information was confirmed there.

“CrowdStrike is aware of reports of outages on Windows hosts related to the Falcon program. Symptoms include hosts experiencing a bugcheckblue screen error related to the Falcon sensor [a security system that blocks cyberattacks],” the company said.

Russia was not affected by the global disruption. As experts explained, this is due to the fact that CrowdStrike protection systems are almost never used in the country.
