The dog, named Bailey, is specially trained to help his owner, who has postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). With this illness, the girl’s heart rate increases, causing her to lose consciousness.
Bailey can tell when an attack is coming by a change in smell. At such moments, the dog warns the owner, makes sure that the girl sits down safely and does not fall, and also brings water and medicine.
Bailey can also cuddle her during anxiety attacks and is trained in deep pressure therapy, where he rests on her legs to stimulate blood flow.
