A useful tribute to four-legged friends (11 photos + 1 video)
How can we thank those who are ready to brighten up our lives, give us love and loyalty, and even risk their own lives? In Toronto, this was approached not only creatively, but also with practicality in mind.
And they installed a fountain for dogs in Berchi Park. This whimsical fountain is a tribute to the city's four-legged friends.
This is what the park looked like before reconstruction.
Behind the FLATIRON building in Toronto is an intricately decorated fountain dedicated to mankind's best friend. The fountain is a thank you to the four-legged visitors who frequent the area. In it, tailed friends can safely swim, splash around and freshen up. However, everyone else is also not prohibited from doing this, but not everyone will risk it for reasons of hygiene.
Dog fountain
On three tiers of the fountain there are sculptures of pets: a greyhound puppy, a Bernese mountain dog, a giant schnauzer and a West Highland terrier, cheerfully splashing streams of water. But dogs are not the only creatures guarding the structure: a cat is also present here.
All the dogs are focused on a huge bone, which serves as the culmination of the composition. And the cat looks into the distance, without taking his eyes off two sculptures of birds sitting on a lamppost.
The fun fountain is the creation of Montreal architect Claude Cormier and part of a playful redesign of the park. Unfortunately, the name of the cat's breed is not indicated on the architect's website, which makes it clear that this fountain is really for dogs. The cat, which sits with a wary expression on its face next to the German Shepherd, looks very cautious and does not take part in the extravaganza of water jets, performing the function of an observer.
Among the 27 dog breeds are the following: Fox Terrier, St. Bernard, Dalmatian, West Highland Terrier, Great Dane, Jack Russell Terrier, St. Bernard, Giant Schnauzer, Golden Retriever, Beagle, Pug, Bernese Mountain Dog and others. Sculptures of puppies from several of the aforementioned breeds also take center stage in the fountain's design.
