The ugliest fountain worth 2 million euros was officially opened in Vienna
In Vienna, in honor of the 150th anniversary of the city's spring water source, an unusual fountain was opened. For the sake of this event, we had to spend a lot of money, because as much as 2 million euros were spent on the construction of the art object... taken from the city budget. This is a very decent amount, so Austrian residents expected to see something really beautiful at the opening. Alas, they were in for an epic disappointment.
The opening of the new Viennese landmark was attended by the mayor of the city, Michael Ludwig, and the president, Alexander Van der Bellen. But people did not appreciate the masterpiece at all. Residents did not hesitate to call it a complete monstrosity. They were also extremely outraged that their taxes went to such dubious creativity.
By the way, this is not the first such case. The artists from the Gelatin association, who gave Vienna such a disgusting gift, were already involved in a scandal. Previously, they erected an equally resonant fountain in Salzburg. The composition depicted a man urinating in his mouth. As a result, due to numerous requests from the townspeople, the fountain was demolished. Something tells me... that the new Viennese masterpiece will face the same fate.
