In the US, 74-year-old Ann Myers from Ohio allegedly became a victim of online scammers. She decided to rob a bank to improve her financial situation. Details are shared by USA Today and NBC News.
The incident occurred on April 19. An armed pensioner threatened AurGroup Credit Union employees with a pistol and demanded money. 
The woman has already been arrested. She admitted to committing the crime. The gun was found in her car. She is now facing charges of aggravated robbery with a firearm and tampering with evidence. Anne Meyers had no previous criminal history.
As USA Today noted, it is unclear from court documents whether the elderly woman has hired a lawyer.
The police learned that Ann Myers could have become a victim of scammers after a conversation with her relatives. According to them, the 74-year-old American woman sent money to a person whose identity has not been established. 
“Some may see Anne Meyers as the victim in this situation. But she decided to victimize several more people when she went to rob a bank with a firearm in her hands to find a way out of the situation, says police sergeant Brandon McCroskey.
According to him, Myers was planning a robbery. For example, she took the license plate off her car and tried to remove the bumper sticker. She also discussed the robbery with her family, but her relatives did not take her words seriously.
