A Russian propaganda television channel passed off the flag and coat of arms of Udmurtia as insignia of “Canadian mercenaries” fighting as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The Channel One news broadcast showed a story from the military commander Gusein Huseynov from the front. In it, he approaches a fighter collecting trophies. He shows the correspondent Russian and Ukrainian chevrons found after the assault. The corresponding video was published by the Butusov Plus telegram channel, Censor.NET reports.
Russian propagandists said that “the presence of mercenaries in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has long been no secret to anyone.” The moment with the chevrons was broadcast only in the episode released for broadcast to the Far Eastern regions. Subsequently, it was cut out and when it was shown in the central part of Russia, it was no longer there.
