In Australia, a giant wave carried a girl into rough water (6 photos + 1 video)
The footage shows a man and a baby walking along a pier in North Wollongong. Suddenly a wave hits and sweeps the girl away. The father jumps over the railing and falls headfirst into the water, as witnesses scream in horror.
One of those who rushed to help was David Graham. He said that the father was exhausted, but did not let go of the child until they were pulled out.
Melinda Graham also witnessed the incident and tried to calm the girl's mother down.
The man grabbed his daughter and desperately tried to stay afloat.
Meanwhile, a rescue helicopter was sent to the scene.
The father and daughter were taken to Wollongong Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries.
A few weeks ago, a 62-year-old British man died in the village of San Esteban de Pravia in northern Spain when a storm wave swept him out to sea.
