Adidas will ban the sale of Germany national team jerseys with number 44 (4 photos)
The designer was either so carried away by creativity that he did not notice what the others noticed, or he remembered the “glorious” past of his ancestors.
The German company Adidas said it would ban the sale of Germany national team jerseys with number 44. It's all about the "unsuccessful" font that the designers used. It is damnably reminiscent of the symbolism of the SS, one of the bloodiest paramilitary formations, noted for a large number of war crimes.
It is noteworthy that until today the T-shirt was selling well in the company’s online stores, until users noticed that the T-shirt with number 44 reminded them of something very bad.
"We will block number 44 as quickly as possible. Adidas employs people from approximately 100 countries and is a company committed to promoting diversity and inclusion. As a company, we actively oppose xenophobia, anti-Semitism, violence and hatred in all forms," a representative told Bild Adidas Oliver Bruggen.
The T-shirt could be personalized by writing any word in a special window. Well, people started writing the most suitable things. Here, for example, is number 44 with the inscription "Goebbels"
It is noted that the sale of uniforms has not yet been banned, but as part of personalization, it is already prohibited to put the words “Hitler” and “Führer” on T-shirts.
The German Football Association announced that not a single player of the national team will wear number 44, since at the European Championship all German players wear numbers from 1 to 23. The new uniform for Euro 2024 for the Germans turned out, to put it mildly, strange. However, they do not plan to abandon it. The European Football Championship will be held from June 14 to July 14 in Germany.
