As children, many people loved history - studying ancient cultures, long-gone civilizations, the development of technology and how much everything has changed, although people have remained the same. Therefore, whenever the opportunity arises to look into the past with our own eyes, even if at times gloomy, it is very difficult for us to pass by.
1. Terry Fox, a 21-year-old Canadian who lost his leg due to cancer, decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. Every day he ran a full marathon. Fox ran 5,375 kilometers in 143 days, but was unable to continue as the disease progressed. Fox died in June 1981.
