The working people have grandiose plans, the trade union is preparing for a thorough siege of the capital.
There are no longer more than 72 thousand farmers and more than 40 thousand tractors blocking roads, pouring feces and mud on security forces’ vehicles, and burning trucks with imported products. Like, there’s nowhere to put yours, and foreign competitors are also getting in the way.
In the city of Narbonne in the Aude department, protesters set fire to the building of the social insurance service. To do this, they used a bunch of dried grape vines. Despite the intervention of 25 firefighters, the house was eventually destroyed by fire.
Trade unions claim that at this rate the industry will soon die. They say fuel is expensive, work is unprofitable, and there is no respect.
Now they are trying to block traffic in the area of the cities of Toulouse, Strasbourg, Lyon, Bordeaux, Calais and Beauvais. At least 12 highways are blocked.
Farmers intend to organize a complete blockade of Paris to prevent the supply of any goods to the capital, said Maxime Buizard, a representative of the farmers' union, on the BFMTV channel.
“The idea is that not a single truck can supply the capital,” he said. “This will not be a 12 or 15-hour operation, as before, but an action lasting at least five days, which will make it clear to the people of Paris, that they need farmers to live, and that the capital is not self-sufficient. It needs agricultural areas."
The blockade is scheduled to begin next week; farmers will begin blocking roads to the capital as early as Monday night. Among the plans for the near future: to visit Macron’s country house.
