A total of 35 people were injured when a ceiling collapsed in Pistoia, Italy.
The tragedy occurred during a wedding party in the former monastery of Giaccherino, in the hills of Pistoia.
The newlyweds decided to celebrate their marriage registration in a big way in the province of Florence in an ancient monastery built back in the 1400s. The celebration had been going on for several hours when, around 8 p.m., at least 60 people decided to have a lively dance in the hall on the top floor of the building.
Suddenly, a chasm more than 3 meters in diameter opened in the floor, and dozens of people fell down from a height of 4 meters.
Rescuers quickly arrived at the scene, and those injured as a result of the collapse were taken to nearby hospitals. A total of 35 people were injured, including newlyweds. But everyone was incredibly lucky, and the injuries were not critical.
Experts are working to determine the cause of the floor collapse in the building, which is currently owned by a private company.
In 2015, the administration of the city of Pistoia gave permission to hold civil weddings in the building of the ancient monastery. Since then, parties have been regularly held there, but this time one of the guests, apparently, seriously sinned.
