Thanks to a leak, prices for spare parts for the Cybertruck have become known (1 photo)
The other day, prices for some Tesla Cybertruck parts from the company’s spare parts catalog became known. Cybertruck spare parts prices inspire cautious optimism.
In particular, the cost of a huge windshield wiper made in a single unit is $165, while for Ford pickups this pleasure will cost only $42 (brush + lever). The Cybertruck's windshield costs $1,900, four times more than the F-150's. A nightmare at first glance.
Nevertheless, there is an explanation for everything. The Cybertruck wiper had to be developed from scratch, and it is made only for one single model, hence the high price. As for the Cybertruck's windshield, it is ultra-hard Gorilla Glass, and not the standard triplex.
If we are talking about familiar, industry-proven components, then quite comparable prices are observed: $3,300 for a Cybertruck steering gear and $2,000 for the entire rack assembly for the F-150, $200–260 for the side glazing of a Tesla car versus $395 for F-150 Lightning window, etc. The Cybertruck's thick stainless steel front fender is surprisingly only $550, with the bonus of no paint hassles.
Obviously, from a maintenance and repair standpoint, Cybertruck parts will cost more to replace than more traditional pickup trucks. Nevertheless, the difference in prices does not look catastrophic. And potential buyers of a car costing about $100 thousand should expect a similar outcome.
