Ken Block's Subaru Impreza rally car put up for auction (39 photos)
At the American Bring a Trailer auction, bidding is underway for the 2004 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS rally car. Although the sports car has had several owners, it still features the signature Monster Energy livery and number 43, hallmarks of cars used by the famous extreme sportsman Ken Block. There are still 5 days until the end of the auction and currently they are offering $65,000 for the car.
The rally car was built in 2006 on the basis of a two-year-old civilian Impreza, which was written off after being sunk. The two-liter flat four received, for example, improved supercharging and a MoTeC control unit, a different cooling system, a more efficient fuel pump and a number of other improvements. The transmission uses a 5-speed Kaps manual with three differentials (front and rear from Cusco).
The suspension was rebuilt using new arms and Ohlins shock absorbers, reinforced stabilizers, AP brakes and 15-inch Speedline wheels were installed. The interior features a roll cage, Recaro Pro Racer buckets, carbon fiber panels and new pedals. In addition, a rally computer was installed for the co-driver, and new instruments were installed for the driver.
Ken Block and his co-driver Alex Gelsomino used this car for several seasons of the X-Games racing series, after which the car was sold. The Impreza was put up for sale with several memorable details - a Gymkhana license plate in the interior, as well as autographs from Ken Block himself, Gelsomino and Travis Pastrana. It is noted that the sports car regularly got into accidents.
