The International Association of Athletics Federations has summed up the results of the year and announced the finalists of the 2023 Athlete of the Year competition. The World Athletics Council and concerned fans took part in the voting. The year really turned out to be very rich in records and achievements. Haruka Kitaguchi (Japan)





The 25-year-old javelin thrower won a gold medal at the world championships in Budapest this year. The athlete improved her result of 66.73 meters by increasing her throw to 67.38 meters at the Diamond League competition.

This year, the athlete, who specializes in steeplechase, won 4 gold medals: at the Arab Games in Algeria, at the Asian Games in China (1500 and 3000 m) and at the World Championships in Budapest.
