Helicopter crashed onto a highway in Madrid
Fortunately, there were no fatalities. The victims, one might say, got off lightly.
A private Enstrom 280FX Shark helicopter crashed in Madrid. It crashed onto the ring road, catching one of the passing cars with its propeller. According to the Spanish newspaper El Mundo, three people were injured as a result of the accident - the driver of the SUV, the pilot and the passenger of the rotorcraft.
It is reported that one person was able to get out of the crumpled helicopter on his own; the second, who suffered more than the others, had to be rescued by the fire brigade. Both crew members were hospitalized: one suffered a mild traumatic brain injury, the other suffered a hip fracture. The driver of the car did not require hospitalization.
It is noted that the crashed helicopter participated in the IFEMA European Rotors aviation exhibition, organized by the European Helicopter Association (EHA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Council (EASA), and was heading to Cuatro Vientos airport. According to preliminary data, the cause of the crash was strong wind.
