How a dog and a cheetah became friends (4 photos + 1 video)
They are completely different, but they are friends!
At first glance, the cheetah is not the friendliest creature, but they also form interspecies friendships.
Cheetahs usually have 5-6 kittens in a litter. But if a cheetah gives birth to only one kitten, the baby usually faces a sad fate. The mother leaves the cub because she is sure that it will not survive in the wild. This is exactly what happened at the San Diego Zoo: a young female cheetah abandoned her only cub. In order to somehow help the kitten survive, the zoo administration decided to introduce the baby to the puppy. Thus began a unique friendship between completely different animals.
The cheetah was named Ruuxa, and an 8-month-old dog named Raina was introduced to him. They sniffed each other for a long time, and then began to play together, and were no longer separated.
It soon became clear that Ruxa was developing differently from ordinary wild cats: the cheetah was diagnosed with front paw dysplasia. This meant that he would not be able to walk normally, so he would definitely die in the wild. But fortunately for him, he was born at the zoo, where he underwent surgery.
Reina did not leave her friend's side throughout the medical procedures. The devoted friend then stayed nearby while the cheetah recovered. When Ruxa's paws healed, he returned to a full life, which has now become even more comfortable. These two friends are still inseparable, they love to play and compete together, and also delight large and small zoo guests.
