Disney princes and their movie versions (11 photos)
When it comes to Disney cartoons, many people immediately imagine those very “princesses”. Well, their friends and assistants, of course. But their stories would be incomplete if their faithful and brave princes were not nearby. There have already been quite a lot of film adaptations of cartoons, so you can’t remember them all at once! But we can say for sure that the casting of new “princesses” always causes a storm of emotions. Take, for example, the recent “The Little Mermaid.” But with princes, as a rule, everything is calm. Is it that it is easier to find the ideal prince than the princess?
Aladdin
Canadian actor Mena Massoud played the role of Aladdin in the film of the same name, released in 2019.
Prince Eric, "The Little Mermaid"
The role of Eric in the 2023 film adaptation of The Little Mermaid was played by British actor Jonah Hauer-King.
If there are no problems with the previous two handsome guys, then our next cartoon hero’s relationship with the film industry is definitely “everything is complicated.” We're talking about the film adaptation of Mulan, which came out in 2020. The fact is that in the full film there is no such character as Li Shang - his personality was split into two separate characters.
Li Shang - General Tung, Mulan
General Tung (Donnie Yen) became not only Mulan's commander-in-chief, but also a mentor and a father figure.
Li Shang - Chen Honghui, Mulan
But Chen Honghui (Yoson An) is Mulan’s army comrade, with whom the girl initially had a rather tense relationship.
The drastic decision to not include the canonical character in the feature film was made due to the #MeToo movement. The producer said that in modern realities, a romantic relationship between a boss and a subordinate would not be very correct.
Prince, "Snow White"
Surprisingly, in 2012, two films based on the animated film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” were released within a couple of months of each other: “Snow White: Revenge of the Dwarves” and “Snow White and the Huntsman.” The basis, of course, is the same, but the essence is different, just like the heirs to the throne. If in Revenge of the Dwarves the prince looks more classic, then in The Hunter he looks more like Aragorn from The Lord of the Rings. By the way, the princes also have different names: in the first case, the handsome crowned prince is listed as Prince Andrew (Armie Hammer), and in the second as Prince William (Sam Claflin).

Prince Charming, Cinderella
Just imagine, the full-length film “Cinderella” was released already in 2015 (although some still consider it a new product)! Well, the role of Prince Charming was played by the no less wonderful Richard Madden.
Prince Philip, Sleeping Beauty
The original 1958 Sleeping Beauty cartoon became the basis for the films Maleficent and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. And everything would be fine, only the same prince was played by two different actors: in 2014, Philip was Brenton Thwaites, and in 2019, Harris Dickinson became.

Prince Adam, "Beauty and the Beast"
“Beauty and the Beast” is a wonderful fairy tale that inspired not only the release of a wonderful cartoon into the world, but also the making of two full-length films. And if the American version (2017) with Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, although very beautiful, is still a true Hollywood story, then the French version (2014) with Vincent Cassel in the role of the Beast is a real aesthetic and sensual gothic.
