Toyota FJ Bruiser - a pickup truck with toothy tires, a caterpillar on the bottom and an engine from a racing car (12 photos)
An old 1966 Toyota FJ45 pickup truck was turned into an extreme off-road vehicle with a track underneath and brought to the SEMA auto show. The engine of this monster produces 735 horsepower, accelerating the pickup truck to 266 km/h.

The FJ Bruiser rides on massive 42-inch BF Goodrich Krawler T/A KX tires mounted on 20-inch Method wheels. These new components significantly increase ground clearance and are complemented by a completely redesigned trailing arm suspension featuring Fox shock absorbers and Eibach springs. Instead of the original frame, a tubular chassis with an integrated safety cage appeared.
Underneath the bottom is a real Camso track that can be controlled from the cockpit. This function will help move the SUV if it is firmly seated on its belly.
The crew cab has been modified by Complete Customs with plaid-themed upholstery that pays homage to the original. The Momo Daytona Evo seats match the steering wheel from Jackie Stewart's 1968 championship car. We also see some vintage toggle switches and a large display in the middle.
Under the hood is a tuned version of the 5.8-liter V8 engine found in the TRD NASCAR Cup Car racer. A number of modifications allow the engine to develop power up to 735 hp. (533 kW), and the MagnaFlow exhaust system ensures that it can be heard by everyone, everywhere.
Power is sent to the wheels through a Rancho Drivetrain Engineering 3-speed automatic transmission with Currie front and rear differentials and an Advanced Adapter Atlas four-speed transfer case.
Toyota says the FJ Bruiser can crawl at 20 km/h in the lowest gear or cruise at 266 km/h in the highest gear at the same 7,000 rpm.
By all accounts, the FJ Bruiser was one of the highlights of Toyota's SEMA booth, which included 19 exhibits this year.
