Movies in which the protagonist and the main villain do not meet face to face (13 photos)
Many are accustomed to a simple plot formula in which a good guy comes face to face with a villainous villain and spectacularly beats the crap out of the antagonist. But not everyone adheres to this rule. In the selection you will find cool films in which the protagonist and the main villain do not even meet. And such a decision in no way spoils the plot, but quite the contrary!
"Braveheart" (1995)
The main character of the film is the Scottish warrior William Wallace, who failed to get even with his opponent, the English King Edward I, nicknamed Longlegs. William was betrayed and captured, so the audience was not lucky enough to see the epic battle of two colorful characters.
“No Country for Old Men” (2007)
Throughout the entire story, welder Llewellyn Moss tries to escape from the cold-blooded, ruthless killer Anton Chigurh, taking with him a suitcase containing two million dollars. Chigurh tracks Moss, but he is always one step ahead of him. The closest communication that took place between the two heroes was a shootout at a distance, in which both were wounded.
"Memories of Murder" (2003)
Two detectives, Park and Cho, are trying to solve a series of brutal murders. A third police officer, Inspector Seo, arrives from Seoul to help them. The film takes viewers through an investigation that ultimately leads to the discovery of the likely killer. When a DNA test shockingly clears a suspect, all hope seems lost. The film ends with events moving forward 17 years. The crimes have not been solved, the killer is still roaming the streets somewhere, and Puck is still obsessed with a case that he and his colleagues will never be able to solve.

Throughout the story, the main character never manages to confront the antagonist even once in order to teach him an important lesson.
"Willow Creek" (2013)
The independent horror film follows a young couple who venture into the wilderness to track down Bigfoot and film him. The heroes spend the night in a tent, experiencing all the hardships of life in the wild. A strange creature constantly approaches them, trying to scare them. But the main characters never manage to look the monster in the eyes.
"The Last Starfighter" (1984)
In the story, a fan of computer shooters suddenly finds himself the last defender capable of resisting the evil invaders from the galaxy. A young man named Alex sits down on a real spaceship and instantly deals with the enemy space fleet. Throughout the entire film, the hero never encounters alien enemies or their leader Zuru.
"The Fifth Element" (1997)
Jean Baptiste Immanuel Sorg is the assistant of the mysterious Mister Shadow and the main villain of the film. During the entire film, he and Corbin Dallas never crossed paths, although they were incredibly close to this - in one of the scenes, Corbin leaves the elevator, while Zorg enters the elevator next to him.
"True Love" (1993)

"Zodiac" (2007)
The film is dedicated to the real-life investigation of the crimes of the famous serial killer, nicknamed the Zodiac, who kept all of California in fear in the 1960s and 1970s. The plot of the film is a collection of clues, riddles and pointless attempts to establish the identity of the criminal. It is impossible to figure out the villain and get on his trail (by the way, just like in real life).
"The Truman Show" (1998)
"The Truman Show" is not a typical story about the main character and the villain who pursues him. In this case, Truman Burbank has to face the unpleasant truth that his whole life is a complete deception. It turns out that the man lived all the time in a staged cage that has nothing to do with reality. The culprit for this is the show's creator, Christophe. Truman is puzzled by the unpleasant truth, so he decides to find a way out, which leads to the main conflict in the story.
The hero and antagonist never meet each other. Christophe communicates with Truman only via voice communication.
