Toyota showed the updated Land Cruiser 70 for humanitarian organizations and the UN (14 photos)
In August 2023, Toyota presented to the public an updated version of the Land Cruiser 70 with a fresh face, different lighting equipment, an expanded set of electronics and a combination of a 2.8-liter turbodiesel with a 6-speed automatic transmission in the unit line-up. A few months later, the Gibraltar division of the brand, TGS, showed its version of the “seventy”. White, ascetic Land Cruisers travel all over the world, but you can’t just buy them at a car showroom: cars from TGS are available only to the UN and various humanitarian organizations.
The new product, which received the GDJ76 index, is easily recognizable by its signature white paint, steel wheels with narrow “toothy” tires, mechanical hubs at the front instead of automatic ones, as well as a snorkel and simplified lighting technology with halogen headlights.
Asceticism is also observed in the cabin. The car was deprived of the media system, installing a plastic plug in its place, and the new digital dashboard was replaced with a classic analog one.
Under the hood of the humanitarian Land Cruiser there is now not the usual 1HZ with six cylinders, but a 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV turbodiesel, as on the commercial version of the SUV. The engine is paired with a classic all-wheel drive system and a 6-speed automatic transmission. TGS claims that the efficiency of the 201-horsepower unit is 30% better. The engine complies with the Euro-4 eco-standard.
The first GDJ76s will hit the road in March 2024. The customer for the debut batch of the model is the UN.
