Toyota introduced a new generation of SUV Land Cruiser Prado. The car shared a platform with the Lexus GX, but received original appearance and its own set of engines, which for the first time included a hybrid plant. Available for sale in the first quarter 2024.





Introducing the new product, the company said that the Land Cruiser Prado returns to the roots: the SUV will be positioned as practical and functional solution for everyday use. However less Toyota claims that with the change of generations, the Prado has improved in all directions.

Part of the SUV's practicality is underscored by its new appearance. In terms of silhouette and body contours, the relationship with the Lexus GX is good noticeable, however, the Prado has its own front end with a minimalist grille and original optics. Toyota developed two options for head diode lighting: in addition to minimalistic rectangular blocks Land Cruiser Prado will also receive vintage round headlights, which will be installed as on the basic version with unpainted front bumper, and a rich limited edition first edition.

For Western countries, a 2.8-liter 1GD diesel engine has been prepared, which develops 204 hp. and 500 Nm and already works with an eight-band box. This engine will also have a "mild hybrid" version with 48 volt starter-generator. An alternative would be a turbocharged 2.4-liter gasoline unit - Toyota expects the option to 281 HP and 430 Nm will be the most popular in the entire range.

The most expensive Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will get a hybrid installation based on the same 2.4-liter engine with built-in eight-speed "automatic" with an electric motor and a compact 1.87-kilowatt battery. Together they will be able to develop up to 330 hp. and 630 Nm. In such Prado form will be sold, for example, in North America and China. The manufacturer has not yet given the dynamic characteristics of the SUV.

In the future, Prado is expected to share one of his power plants with a Hilux pickup.
