For the price of an apartment: an entire village has been put up for sale in Spain (6 photos + 1 video)
However, several entrepreneurs have already failed to turn it into a tourist paradise.
In Spain, the village of Salto de Castro is being sold for the price of an apartment in Barcelona. The village contains 44 former residential buildings, a hostel, a bar, a church and a swimming pool, but the village has been empty for more than 30 years.
Salto de Castro is located in a picturesque location - in the center of the UNESCO Meseta Iberica Natural Park in the north-west of the country, not far from the border with Portugal. The village was founded in the mid-1940s for workers who were building a dam nearby. But after construction was completed, people began to move to other places - the last resident left the village in 1990.
The village had changed hands more than once, but every businessman eventually abandoned it and resold it.
The current owner purchased the village several years ago for 300 thousand euros. The entrepreneur wanted to turn it into a tourist paradise, restored some buildings, but in the end abandoned his idea and decided to sell it for 40 thousand cheaper - for 260 thousand euros, which is equal to the cost of an apartment in Barcelona.
Several people have already become interested in the village, and realtors hope that interest in the village will raise the price to 600 thousand euros. However, as experts note, in order to bring Salto de Castro back to normal and meet all European standards, you will need to invest at least 2 million euros.
