Indian bride spent $2 million on wedding in USA (15 photos)
Carlita Nair and her husband Sanjay Balgobin, who works in real estate, had a traditional Indian wedding in Orlando, Florida in 2022. For five days, the newlyweds and 400 guests enjoyed the celebration, which cost $2 million.
The ceremony took place at the Ritz Carlton in Florida and the reception the next day at the JW Marriott, both lavishly decorated. The couple wanted to serve traditional food, so they chose the Ritz Carlton because it has an Indian chef. He flies to Ritz Carlton hotels around the world to cater Indian weddings.

A total of $700,000 was spent over five days on the lavish wedding and reception alone, with another $100,000 spent on pre-wedding ceremonies.
The bride's outfits cost a total of $38,000
Carlita had some amazing looks. Her wedding dress weighed 23 kilograms, she paid $9,000 for it and waited five months for it. The white ensemble for the reception was designed by Indian designer Manish Malhotr. "He launched a new collection before our wedding, so my outfit was straight off the runway and my blouse was custom-made. It cost $21,000," Nair said.
The groom's outfit weighed 7 kilograms and cost $5,000.
Hairstyle, makeup, jewelry - $25,000
All the traditional pre-wedding functions - Haldi, Mehendi and Sangeet ceremonies - took place in the backyard of Sanjay's parents' house, where a hall was built to accommodate all the guests.
The banquet cost $130,000
The wealthy newlyweds said it was important to them to arrive in style, so they paid $2,000 for a chauffeured Ferrari.
A separate expense item is a high-quality entertainment program. Famous Indian singers Ravi B and Savita Singh performed. Other additions to the celebration include stilt drummers, LED robots and a fire show. Carlita and Sanjay wanted to order real elephants and tigers, but they were too expensive.
“Our whole family helped us in organizing the wedding, including financially,” explains Carlita. “In Indian culture, the bride and groom are not required to pay for the entire wedding. In addition, Sanjay is an only child, he has a large family, so he really wanted to arrange a great holiday for everyone."
The couple currently lives with Sanjay's parents in Florida, which Carlita notes is very traditional in their culture.
