Vietnamese man considers stealing pets just a job (5 photos)

In Vietnam, quite often on the table of guests specialized cafes and restaurants fall into someone's yesterday's favorites. This man is catching domestic animals and then sells them for meat. For a job like this a man is condemned even by his own family.





In Vietnam, a man stole about 1,500 in eight months cats for restaurants that serve cat and dog food meat. He told the journalists of the Daily Mirror about his profession.

About a year ago, 47-year-old Nguyen Hoang Chau became part of an underground network of kidnappers who trap pets and sell the booty to specialized slaughterhouses. He took it on craft because he lost his job after an operation to remove stones in kidneys.

Chow uses metal to catch animals a cage-trap in which he puts raw fish and other delicacies. How as soon as the cat is inside, the cage door slams shut. Per night he manages to catch five or six cats. Chau earns about 500 from this thousand Vietnamese dong per day. This more profitable than his previous job, in which he received only 200 thousand dong per day.

The man claims that now he mainly catches cats, which are then transported to other countries in order to sell in as pets. However, he agreed that one cannot be sure that animals don't end up in someone's soup. At the same time, Chau refers to indifferent to his work: he told the interviewer that catching cats for him, it is not much different from picking vegetables. Only after the question of attitude of children to his way of earning, he expressed sympathy for animals.

I pity the cats and I'm sorry they have to go through pain, but I need to take care of my family. My kids hate my job and I I feel very guilty. They asked me to stop, but I have no choice

The homeless remain the main target of cat thieves animals, however domestic cats in Vietnam often walk outside. Therefore, pets regularly get into cages and end their days in restaurant as "exotic meat".

The consumption of cat and dog meat is not prohibited in Vietnam, therefore for skinning, transportation and terrible conditions of detention kidnappers and their customers are only fined. Often near factories you can find posters with photos of cats that the inconsolable are looking for hosts.
