Spanish bull racing festival San Fermin again marked by casualties among the participants (3 photos + 3 videos)
In Pamplona, Spain, the annual festival is in full swing. races with bulls. There are eight races in the festival program in total. An exotic event is also life-threatening. ️According to Red cross, already 15 people were injured. Fortunately, no one died. If not count the bulls themselves - these are, in the end, killed.
Festival in Pamplona in honor of the patron Saint of Navarre Fermina started on July 6 and traditionally will last a week. During holidays there are daily races with bulls (encierro), during during which hundreds of people run for several minutes along the narrow the streets towards the bullfighting ring, pursued by those released from the corral animals.
Everyone can participate in the race - as local residents and guests from abroad. Only at the end of the first day of mass race in the hospital turned out to be six people, among whom were found three tourists from the USA. Nine other people were injured.
Injuries of varying severity in participants occur annually, as they specifically, for the sake of thrills, observe the minimum distance with the bulls. Last year, two hikers from injuries have died.
The bulls participating in the race are killed in the afternoon by professional bullfighters.
Meanwhile, Spanish animal rights groups animals Beta and AnimaNaturalis organized a demonstration in Pamplona against running bulls and bullfighting. They call it "meal for animals, so it is for people."
Supporters of the festival insist that the races are an important national tradition.
Races have been held since 1591. They became world famous Thanks to Hemingway's novel "The Sun Also Rises" ("Fiesta").
