The mummy of Tutankhamun, the famous pharaoh of Ancient Egypt, is still day is actively studied, making new discoveries. All this time in Egyptology believed that Tutankhamun was a weak boy who barely moved due to bone disease. But a recent study and the reconstruction of the pharaoh's face showed that this was not the case.

When archaeologists found the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, they found inside 130 whole or fragmented sticks, using which, as determined by scientists, the ruler could move. It was believed that he was weak, frail, with clubfoot and deformed limbs. But recently Egyptologists at Cheltenham science festival said that this may be wrong. Experts claim that the "clubfoot" could actually have arisen in the process mummification, and the application of resin and tight bandaging could seriously distort foot shape.

"After studying the mummy of Tutankhamun, I came to the conclusion that there was no evidence that he was disabled. Because I I saw mummies that really had clubfoot. In fact these are pseudo-pathological changes. And the walking sticks found in tomb were just a sign of royalty," said Egyptologist Sofia Aziz.

The mummy was also missing one toe of his left foot - but how determined by the experts, it may have disappeared during the transfer of the body, or someone took it as a souvenir. Moreover, according to one of Egyptologists, Tutankhamun's "canes" were a sign of status, not disability because they depicted his enemies - for example, Nubians. He was not an invalid at all, but a "warrior, hardened by battles." Scientists continue to explore the contents of the tomb of the ancient ruler, to make more discoveries.

Tutankhamun's tomb was discovered by geologist Howard in 1922. Carter. Before that, no one touched the tomb for 3000 years. How it turned out that Tutankhamun became pharaoh in 1336 BC, just at the age of nine and died at the age of 19. Also in his tomb found leather armor and various weapons, which once again confirms that the fact that he was a warrior.

This is what Tutankhamen might have looked like during his lifetime:
